This is a brief we were very excited for! Cats Protection tasked us with the architectural rebrand of 30 sites and a fleet rebrand of 150+ vehicles. As a charity that works tirelessly to rescue and rehome stray and unwanted cats throughout the UK, as well as providing valuable help and education around cat welfare, an economical and efficient roll out was essential.
As their brand design hadn’t been updated since 1998, Cats Protection wanted a fresh new look that would put them in the forefront of people’s minds and help them continue to rescue and rehome as many cats as possible. Their 30 sites comprising branches, rehoming centres and shops nationwide, all of which are run by volunteers, were all in need of an overhaul, along with their essential van fleet.
Having taken the decision to undergo a rebrand encompassing their logo, marketing communications, fleet and of course architectural branding, all their sites needed new signage, wayfinding and interior branding, along with new livery for their vehicles. The goal for Cats Protection was to create a cohesive brand experience throughout all of their sites with clear, simply designed branding that made them more appealing and easier to navigate for visitors, whilst using their vehicles to make their brand stand out on the road.
So, we got to work.
We began by carrying out thorough site surveys, recording signs that needed replacing and areas which required new or additional branding and wayfinding. The sign spreadsheets were compiled and reviewed before our design team began creating the templates for each and every unique sign.
Diligent project management and coordination was required on this project due to the scale and complexity that came from the vast number of signs and style variations. Site by site the old signs were removed and the new signs were installed, transforming the buildings and creating a welcoming and informative environment.
Next, we templated their vehicles, adjusted the designs to fit the unique contours and joins of each van and ran them through our VAS software so we could share what the finished result would look like. After getting the go ahead, we installed unique full furry wraps on the vehicles, transforming them into mobile cat billboards, that are sure to turn heads wherever they go.
Thanks to our Architectural Project Manager and Customer Service team, we installed hundreds of new signs, giving all the sites and touchpoints a new look consistent with the new brand style. First impressions often come from appearances and the new look solidifies Cats Protection’s reputation and puts them back in the forefront of people’s minds. The overall result is a strong, impactful and memorable brand that’s instantly recognisable to everyone who sees it, enhanced by their simultaneous marketing campaign which is helping Cats Protection reach as many cats as possible by encouraging people to use and support their services.
